When is the Winter Season?
Winter season will run from 1/13/24 to 3/9/24. All games will be in the morning and early afternoon. There will be a league wide bye week on January 20th, 2024 for teams traveling to Tampa  On 3/9/2024 will be our championship night, which we are hoping will be bigger and better than ever! Please set aside that date on your schedule for a fun-filled day with the Mad Dogs family!

How Much is Mad Dogs?
Price is $170 for the first child then $20 off for any additional. We also offer discounts for anyone who wishes to be a head coach.

Does Mad Dogs offer sponsorships for kids in need?
We want everyone to be able to play in Mad Dogs! Thanks to our generous sponsors, we get to help families who may not be able to afford the full registration. If you know of someone who wants to play but money is the obstacle, please have them call (386) 597-0215.

When is Practice?

Practice is 2 days a week on average. Days are set by your head coach.

Where is Practice?

Ralph Carter Park/Belle Terre Park

Game fields to be determined. All games will be in the morning and early afternoon for winter season.

What team am I going to play for?
Mad Dogs will be following a draft format for player selection. Head coaches will be allowed to reserve any of their own children and those of their one assistant coach or team mom. The rest of the players will be selected in the league-wide draft before the start of the regular season. A head coach will be allowed to have either an assistant coach or team mom placed on their team prior to the draft.

How does the draft work?
The draft will work similar to last season—we will have multiple evaluation days to “scout” players. All new and returning athletes (including reserved/slotted players) must attend. Following the evaluation, we will have a league-wide draft where coaches will select their players. The results of the draft will be final.

Can I Coach or Be a Team Mom?
YES! If you’re at all interested in coaching or volunteering, please sign up. We will find a spot for you! All we require is a background check (which you pay for and is offset by your registration discount).  Please go to our website and click coaches and you will see the background check.

What will I need to buy for my child to participate?
The only required equipment for Mad Dogs is the team jersey and flags (both of which we issue as part of registration) as well as a mouth guard and shorts without pockets—both are needed for safety purposes. We also strongly recommend football cleats. All of the above can be purchased easily on Amazon or at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Daytona. Every once in a while they’re stocked locally at Target/Walmart, but do not wait until the last minute to grab them!

What else can my child do to get ready?
Mad Dogs is a “competitive” flag football league. We absolutely exist for every child to play, learn the game and have a great time, but the purpose of the league is to push every athlete to get better. That can start today! Get your young athlete off the couch now, get them moving. If they’re playing another sport, great! If not, start walking, running, biking, swimming, playing catch, doing body-weight workouts like pushups/squats/jumping jacks. Talk about good hydration and nutrition. Remember, doing these activities WITH your young athlete is going to be a lot more effective at getting them going than just telling them to do it. YouTube is a pretty great resource for beginner football drills and “speed/agility sets” are an inexpensive purchase on Amazon.

Thank you, and we’re looking forward to a great season!
